MLB Play 7/27

1 unit play: Royals +105 at Tigers

The Tigers will use Michael Fulmer tomorrow as an opener where he squares off against Mike Montgomery.  Both teams will have pretty good familiarity with the other starter as the Royals’ current roster has seen 62 ABs against Fulmer and the Tigers have 49 ABs off Montgomery.  As a team, the Royals have an AVG. of .312 off Fulmer while the Tigers carry a .265 AVG against Montgomery.  While that average for the Tigers looks pretty good, Montgomery actually dominated against the Tigers last year.  In 12.2 innings, he allowed just 1 run and struck out 17.  While we don’t know how long Fulmer will be out on the mound or who comes in behind him, it should not matter too much.  The Royals’ numbers against Fulmer are excellent as pointed out above, and the Tigers also boast one of the worst bullpens in the MLB.  The longer the Tigers have to use the pen and the more arms that have to come out increases the likelihood of an implosion.  Love this play, especially at a + money price.
